Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday!

Good afternoon!  I nearly forgot that it is Fab Friday today at Tiddly Inks!  We are showcasing some gorgeous cards from the wonderful Tiddly Inks design team over at the challenge blog... head on over and check them out!  Also you still have time to get your project in for our Pretty in Pink challenge... enter your Tiddly Inks pink creation HERE.

I decided to use Be Bold, Be You! Ballerina for my card today...

Isn't she gorgeous?!  This is the first time I have actually gotten around to colouring her up, and she was lots of fun to colour!  I added Stickles to her mask and distressed the edges of the image with Distress Inks.  The papers are mainly scraps and the blue one is from CloseOut Girl on Etsy.  The sentiment comes with this gorgeous girl.

I do love how the image turned out, but I'm not happy with this card in general... I think maybe I used too much blue in the background.  I should have swapped the colour pallette around a little methinks.  Anywho... live and learn!

I followed this weeks' sketch at Feeling Sketchy which is actually a layout, but they said we could do a card instead if we wanted.

Bicycle Kaylee at Some Odd GIrl

Hello!  Good afternoon!  It's our final day of new release showcases at Some Odd Girl today and I think this image might just be my favourite... although I think that every time I see one of Kristy's new images!  Head on over to the Some Odd Girl blog and check out my teamies' fabulousness!

Here's my card using the gorgeous Bicycle Kaylee:

You may have noticed (or not) that I don't often do the scene thing on my cards... I'm not really into it, but I do really like how this on turned out.  The papers are from CloseOut Girl on Etsy and the lovely flowers are from Maria Therese, my blog buddy.  The sentiment is a sticker from SRM, the ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl and the charm is from my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Bailey

Good morning!  This is just a quick post from me today... I have a card to share using one of the new rubber stamps from Little Miss Muffet Stamps... Bailey.  She's a little bit different from her (now retired) digital version as she has been mirrored in rubber version and also her hands have fingers (before they were more mitten-like).

Before I share my card... there is a new challenge up at Little Miss Muffet stamps.  The theme is Sparkle (or Anything Goes if you use a Little Miss Muffet Stamps image).  Head on over and check out the gorgeous DT creations!

Here's my card:

Isn't she lovely?  Her hair is rather fun to colour!  The papers I have used are mainly from the Cosmo Cricket Clementine collection.  I don't actually like the general colours of this collection, but there are a few papers in it that I do like (particularly the chevrons) so I am working my way through them.  The other papers are from Pink Paisley and Echo Park (I think).  The lovely eyelet lace is from my blog friend Maria Therese, the ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl and the sentiment is a sticker from SRM.  The crystals are by Prima.

Here's a close-up:

And here are the copics I used:

I based this card on the following sketch from Amusing Challenges:

Reading Mae at Some Odd Girl

Hello there!  Did I mention that we are showcasing lovely new digital releases this week at Some Odd Girl?  I think I did... maybe once or twice... lol! Head on over and check out the fabulous projects from my amazing teamies!   I don't know about you, but I think Kristy's images are just getting more and more amazing and they are so much fun to colour!

Today I have a card made with Reading Mae to share with you.  This is the image I used for my cloud colouring tutorial on the weekend and here's the finished card:

I know, a pretty  unusual colour combo for me, but these papers happened to be hanging out on my desk having just arrived from Closeout Girl on Etsy and so I thought I would use them! I think they are mostly from Cosmo Cricket.  The ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl and the flowers were a gift from Maria Therese.  The brad is from Closeout Girl and the sentiment is a rubon from Pebbles.  The dragonfly chippie is from Make it Crafty.

Here's a close-up of Reading Mae:

Patriotic Wryn

Good morning!  It's Tiddly Tuesday and Christy has a gorgeous new Wryn being released today!   Check her out over HERE on Christy's blog.

I'm only showing a sneak peak of my creation with her today as the actual card is for next week's challenge!  Hhhmmm, three guesses as to what that might be!

So what do you think?  I'm pretty sure you NEED her!  Lol!  Her flag comes blank and you can detail it however you want.  I gave my version of Wryn a New Zealand flag... I had to look it up to make sure I did it right because ours and the Aussie flags are very similar!

Anyway, just a quick post from me today.

Don't forget to head over to the Some Odd Girl blog a bit later on to check out today's gorgeous new release kids!  I think you're gonna need them too!

Have a lovely day!

Camila

Good morning!  I'm back with another Little Miss Muffet stamps creation using the gorgeous Camila in her new red rubber verion.  The digital version of Camila is going to be retired on Wednesday at midnight CST, so if you are a keen digi user and you haven't got her yet, you had better hop to it!  And if you place an order before the end of the weekend Barbara will throw in a Sugar n Spice doll digi for free!

Here's my card:

This is not a colour combo I'm all that comfortable using, but I actually quite like how the card turned out!  I used the ColourQ challenge #142 colour combo and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  The papers are from Studio Calico, Crate Paper and someone else.  The ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl and the brad and flower are from my stash.  The sentiment is from Crate Paper.

Here is the colour combo:

Cloud tutorial

Hiya!  I've just posted my second ever tutorial over at the Some Odd Girl blog.... I thought maybe I should copy it here too. We are having loads of fun with the Facebook Fun Day ! I hope you haven't missed out!

Here's my tutorial:

Hello!  It’s Arabella here with a little tutorial on how I colour my clouds with copics.  I used to try to use Distress Inks and a cloud template to create clouds on my stamped images, but I’m not very good at it and I am never happy with the result I get, so I thought I would have a go at colouring clouds with my copics instead…  I haven’t looked back since!
Warning!  This post is picture heavy!  I probably should have made a video, but I haven’t done that before, so I thought I should stick to what I know!
Before we get started I wanted to share a photo of some clouds I took recently while we were out on the boat…
You can see from the photo that although clouds are perceived as white, they have a lot of purple/grey shadows.  You can also see that the sky appears to become a more intense blue the further away from land you get.
Copic Cloud Colouring Tutorial:
I start by printing out my image (Reading Mae) and cutting it to the size I want to use on my card.  Then I grab my pencil and lightly pencil in some clouds.

Next, I erase the clouds so that there is only a very faint pencil mark left on the page.
TIP:  You can’t erase pencil once you have coloured over it with copics.

Next I decide what colours to use.  For this one, I used BV20 as my darker colour and BG70 as my light colour.  I start by laying in the shadow areas on the clouds (using a flicking upwards motion from darker into lighter) with my lightest colour (BG70).

Then I add my BV20 but don’t flick up as far as with the BG70.  You can see it’s looking quite messy now, but don’t worry as we will come back and blend it out.

Blend the darker BV20 out with the BG70 again using a flicking motion (dark to light).  At this stage I also put a little bit of shadow along the top v’s.

Now if you are happy with the blending, start adding some blue for the sky.  I used B000 at the top, coming down to B0000 and finally BG70 closer to the ground.

And here is the finished Reading Mae:

I followed the same procedure with Bicycle Kaylee, except I used different colours for the clouds and sky:

For this one I used the following colours:
Clouds: BG0000, V20
Sky: BG0000, BG10, B12 and B14
Grass: G20, YG03, YG17

I hope you liked the tutorial!  These brand new and totally awesome digital stamps will be available in the Some Odd Girl shop from Monday!
